Here at The Undercut, we're passionate about helping women and girls learn more about Formula 1 and encouraging them to consider aiming for careers in the sport. F1 is male -dominated, but the landscape is finally starting to shift and a new era is being ushered in by inspirational women.

We reached out to some young women who are serious F1 fans, asked them why the sport is so special to them and what career goals they have.

Manon -

"I got into Formula 1 in May 2022, right before the Monaco Grand Prix - so not that long ago actually! At first, I didn't understand the regulations but I still enjoyed it. It took some time for me to fully get it, and it wouldn't be possible without the help of a wonderful community and the amazing F1 girls group chat.

Formula 1 gave me new opportunities career-wise. As a marketing and communications student, I didn't know what I would be doing in 10 years but today I feel that working for a Formula 1 team will get me even closer to the sport that has brought me so much joy!"

Jules, UK -

"I grew up in a household where my Dad and brothers loved F1 and watched it every weekend. To be honest, this initially put me off as I didn't want to hang out and watch a 'boys' sport. However, I began to watch F1 regularly around 2016 and was instantly hooked by Hamilton and Rosberg's battle for the title - I never knew sport could have so much drama! My love for the sport continues to grow and I am still an avid watcher.

I never really saw a career in F1 as an option when I was younger, as I said I thought it was only for boys, but now I follow loads of girls on instagram who love F1 and it makes me believe that it is possible. For me, I'd love to work as a PR manager for one of the drivers and help them to create their own personal brand."

Mariola, Germany -

"I love Formula 1 because I like cars in general - especially when they're fast! In 2013 my Uncle used to watch F1 at lot and when I was at his place I watched it with him. Back then, I didn't know what F1 was. My Uncle stopped watching when Vettel went to Ferrari and I never saw the races again for years!

However, my family and I drive every year to a truck racing event at the Nurburgring and so I stayed in contact a bit with racing. I also watched the Netflix movie Schumacher in late 2021 as well as Drive to Survive. The first race I watched after the long break was Abu Dhabi 2021. I would love to get a job in motorsport, it doesn't matter which series!'

Nicola, Italy -

"Growing up in Italy, F1 and Ferarri have always been a huge part of my life. I love that all my family encouraged me and my sisters to watch the sport and we were lucky enough to attend the 2019 Monza Grand Prix to see Charles Leclerc's win! That was one of the best days of my life and an experience I will never forget.

My dream job always used to be working in fashion so I've decided to try and combine this with F1. I'd now love to work for Ferrari and design their clothing merchandsise. The merch of F1 teams is often pretty simple: t-shirts, hoodies and caps - I'd love to develop this and bring in more aspects of high fashion"

Lauren, UK

"I only started watching F1 in 2022 after I watched Netflix's Drive to Survive in February and I was instantly hooked! I am currently in sixth-form studying maths, physics and chemistry and I would now love to pursue a career in engineering in F1! My next step is to apply for an undergraduate degree in motorsport engineering - I'm so glad I started watching F1!"

Thank you so much to all this girls who submitted a comment for this post! Please feel free to send in more to our Instagram (@the.undercut_) as we would love to make a part 2!
